CVPR Summer School 2012
January 2012
The Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition (CVPR) Summer School will take place in Kioloa, South Coast NSW, from the 9th to the 13th January 2012.
To maximise the opportunities for scholarly exchange, the CVPR Summer School will be held as a set of short and long tutorials with sessions available for participating students to deliver short talks on their current research.
The school will be held as a set of half-day tutorial sessions covering a number of topics in computer vision and pattern recognition. Tutorials will be presented by renowned international and Australian researchers: Nicu Sebe (University of Trento, Italy), Richard Wilson (University of York, UK), Nick Barnes (NICTA and ANU, Australia), Simon Lucey (CSIRO, Australia), Antonio Robles-Kelly (NICTA and ANU, Australia), Peter Corke (NICTA and Queensland University of Technology) and Anders Eriksson (University of Adelaide) amongst others.
The school will provide a means for research students to interact with researchers from Australia and overseas, allowing for discussion of current trends and recent ideas and results from leading national and international scientists so as to foster scholarly exchange and future collaborations in the area.
Expressions of interest regarding participation in the CVPR school can be lodged electronically at the call for participation webpage. Each expression of interest will be assessed so as to give priority to students in their final year of undergraduate study and whose plans are to pursue further studies in areas akin to CVPR. PhD candidates in their first year of enrolment are also strongly encouraged to apply.
Thanks to the generous support from NICTA and CSIRO, participating students enrolled in Australian universities whose expression of interest is accepted and, hence, can attend the school, will be doing so free of registration charges. Moreover, the school will cover accommodation and meals at Kioloa and transfers from Canberra to the ANU Coastal Campus. The important dates are the following
